Just plain confused - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

Sitting around on a lazy Saturday, I decided to check out my vin. Everything made sense until it came down to the last 6 digits. Mine are 208078,and as best as I can tell it should mean my car was number 108,078 to roll off the line. Then I looked back on some numbers posted by fbodfather and found that only 106,987 were made in 2011. Anyone have an explanation that even a dummy can understand?

The cars are not numbered sequential to one particular car, it's not numbered all camaros 000001-106,987. There are other models in the mix off of that line.
