Rotor and brake question
Need some pads for sure for the front as I'm about down to the wear line. I confirmed that and know enough to be able to tell that much for sure.
They are telling me I may need rotors as I'm down to 1.2 and the replace /discard rotor manufacturer recommendation is 1.18 so they can't turn them. Can anyone confirm these statements? I don't mind replacing rotors if its time but I don't want a repair shop trying to "pad" their bill... So to speak. As It is, I just put new rubber all the way around today. My 2SS/RS hit 46,000 miles today. Any help is appreciated. Julio

you have to trust your gut,
if your guy tells you there might be a problem, then get a 2nd opinion, (but i would encourage that if the 2nd place finds the first place was accurate that you took it back there) If you feel the shop is honest, then you have to go with that. .020 isn't much, but typically can be machined and stay with in limits, If the car is up on the lift ask to see the measurements yourself, also the limits are typically stamped on the rotor itself, but it might be in mm not inches. |

Ah for a few hundred bucks, I swapped the front rotors... Stuck to stock ones as that's what they could get today. I can't spend another day with my car down. My original rotors weren't scored or mauled up... But they were visibly a bit worn under the edge lip.
What's with the new factory brembo's pads? They look like roller skates with the counter weight.
