$5,000 and you too can choose your vin! (not commenting on the cost, just saying 'Vette's allow you to do that)

So are we any closer to getting that Z28/LS7 done?
I've got 1 empty garage bay to fill.

I want a blue one, no wait a grey one, black? never mind I have a black car.
Just looked outside and what sets in the driveway? A red one with white stripes, and my yard full of every color Z/28 possible.
Alarm goes off and I wake up.

Why would anyone want to pay $5k to choose a VIN#? Not being a jerk, honestly haven't got a clue why one VIN would be more valuable than another VIN to justify a $5k premium.

A true story, or two...

Mustang #1 was sold to a Trans Canada Airlines (now Air Canada) pilot in St. John's Newfoundland. A White V8 Convertible. When Ford decided to "retrieve" Production Serial Number 1, they offered the pilot the 1,000,000th Mustang built, a 1967 model, as an even exchange. He accepted.

Serial Number 1 now sits, fully restored, in the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn (Fair Lane). Value? Pricele$$.

I wonder what # 1,000,000 would be worth, now...

BTW, Serial Number 2 Mustang was sold, new, in Alaska, and I doubt its worth is anywhere near the White one...

Camaro Number 1, a Hot Rod Magazine Project car (and the first one converted to a 396 by Editor Jim McFarland), was purchased by McFarland and used as a daily driver for many years. Ultimately sold to Vic Edelbrock, and restored.

Call Vic and make him an offer...

Generally, a Serial Number is just a number...but every once in awhile...WOW!

Recall what Rick Hendrick paid for HIS Gen-5 Camaro Number 1s...

Actual McFarland's SS350 Camaro was NOT the #1 Camaro, it was the first Camaro released for modification to a magazine and the 1st Camaro shipped to the west coast.

...the first one in the Press Pool...and what became the "prototype" for the West Coast aftermarket...

...and, next to the Penske/Donohue '67, likely the most famous...and valued. After all, Reggie doesn't wanna buy just any car...

Well, to some particular numbers have special meanings, such as their jersey number if they're an athlete. Then there are those that think its really cool to have a VIN that corresponds to something about the car, be it the model year, hp, engine displacement, etc. Others simply like having a low VIN for reasons that I'll never understand, since early build cars tend to suffer from more problems than ones from later in the year.
