Just wondering...
I think this might be a stupid question, but I really wanted to know so here it is. I own a 2012 Camaro and was wondering if the engine's life ends within 6-8 years (hopefully), would it be possible to buy a whole new engine and just place it in the car? Rather than buy a whole new car? Also, is it possible to replace the V6 with a V8?

I meant 6-8 years plus the 2 years I've had it. At this rate, I'm putting like 13,000 miles on it a year.

I think what he's looking for is to replace his engine. But why not just sell your engine to cover some of the cost to replace the one you want?

Maybe but cars are cars you know? Sometimes you just get a bad motor...I haven't had any issues besides a misfire due to a shorted spark plug but I just can't see hitting 200,000 miles on a Camaro. Not trying to put Camaros or GM down it's just it's a sports car that's driven hard!

I don't want to sell my engine. I just want to maybe buy a new one engine when this one is done...instead of buying an entirely new car.

The engine in your car is the same one used in almost all of GM's V6 applications. It's meant to last.

Well hopefully it lasts long! This car is my baby and I worry about everything way too much!

You can always have the engine rebuilt too....my Silverado is a 2005 with 140,000 and she still runs great. It really depends on how well you care for your car. Change oil, etc....
