SC or cam , which is more reliable?

looking down the road, i will want to bump up power as the warrenty gets closer to being done. this is a daily driver that i enjoy, so which would be less likely to give me issues? if i was to SC i would probably keep the boost low to avoid issues, since i have been reading a bit about them. i know the cam is certainly cheaper.

My vote is for the Maggie supercharger. As long as you don't mess with the tune or add headers you can get a 100k mile powertrain warranty. We don't have any problems with them at all. Just my .02

A Magnacharger will be more driveable thats for sure. They can both mess an engine up pretty quick if they aren't tuned right.

Builder is the key with either. I have both and the car runs great.

Tunes or poor part selection can both easily kill an engine.

I know most that have sc love them, but they haven't been on long, I'm thinking long term, I know I could put one on and love it for a year, but what about in 4, I guess if I decided to get one, i just dont want to find myself chasing repairs because of it a year or 2 down the road.

Go for the gusto. Get both.
Both, are reliable depending on what you purchase and who sets it up for you.
It's not the materials that make the car it's the skilled technician that uses the materials to make the car.
Word of advise, do a lot of research, and don't just go with what everybody else bolts on their engine. Moding your car is a very personal activity, we all drive differently, we all want the vehicle to operate differently for varying purposes, etc...
So, take your time, do a lot of research, even test drive a few different setups if you can before you make any final decisions.

I have a MAST track II cam with lightened pushrods, mast valve springs, with LT's, hi-flow cats, CAI - we got 470rwhp and 430tq - driveabilty is great / she pulls nicely.

Next are MAST heads - we'll be at around 540ish

interesting topic, you know i think people give N/A setups and F/i setups a bad rep. you will see people not getting the right parts for a new cam setup, and you will see people putting there boost to high on a blower + bad tune. so in end they are both reliable with right parts with right people+ tunes.

Yeah, 70whp would be great. The Mast heads have shown 40whp.
This is a good question. I have been pondering this myself.
The local shop ( Davenport Motorsports) have a great bunch of guys who swear by the maggy set-ups. They have over 40 cars done with no issues. I just don't think anybody drives like me, and I don't think a PD s/c will be best for long runs at speed. You can have a bigger n/a motor built for about the same money.
I say cam is more reliable with a quality install and tune on both.
