I live in Texas and if you have watched the news lately, it has been over 100 degrees for over 60 days this summer. I have over 67,000 miles on my Camaro and it still blows very cold !!!

having owned many GM products before, MAX A?C turned up the fan and automatically set the rec., not on the Camaro, temp to left beyond blue to snow flake AND fan above the II speed, with this I have never had to use rec. even in 95+ deg heat.

Yes you can hear the compressor kicking on and off. I know it has to be a tad low on freon but the dealer said he charged it up and added dye and even then it didn't work well, if in fact they did anything to it at all.

It's been pretty humid and in the 90's here in Virginia all summer. I have been impressed with the AC. Just like one of the posters above I only have it turned on a little and the car gets cold quick.

I have a 2011 and got the recall letter also. My AC never seemed to get very cold compared to any other car I've owned. Left the car at the dealer for a couple hours a number of weeks ago. When I picked it up they said they had downloaded the fix but it still doesn't seem very cold so I'm not sure what to think.

I've got cold air alright in my wife's used 08 E350 Mercedes. If you leave it on high, not recirc, you'll get frost bite. In my camaro which supposedly had the flash done, RO was closed a week after I bought it so I don't know it got done, it sucks!!!!! Dealer says it can fluctuate up to 15 Degs. Problem with that is if you start at 40 and end up at 55 like I said it sucks!!!!!

Spend the $35 or so for them to check it, it would be well worth it. Should not be cycling like that... If they add any freon, have them put it on paper, and take it to your dealers service manager and show him the receipt. See what he can do for you. Free next oil change or something for sure. After you check it with the service center, get it out on the freeway at whatever normal hwy speed you travel. Put the thermometer in the center vent, AC on max, rec on, and the fan on lowest (if you can stand the suns heat for a moment) or next to lowest setting and keep it on cruising speed for about 10 min to let the ac system balance out while its under freeway load, pull the thermometer out and have your passenger read the thermometer and tell you the reading. Post your findings. I am gonna say anywhere from 52 to 62 degrees at the vent would be the norm

You may want to have it checked by the dealership. Mine didnt feel very cold when I first got it, turned out they didnt fill up the freon (sp?) tank at the factory. I am sure it happens from time to time, they filled err up and its been really cold ever since.

UPDATE....
I went back to the dealer, and again they say that my A/C is working within the factory specifications. Yeh - right.
So, on my own dime, I took the car to an A/C specialist. He checked the refrigerant capacity and verified that it was full enough. He also verified that it is cooling in the low 40 degrees range when the compressor is fully functioning. But, when the compressor cycles off (normal activity) the air temp. goes up to the high 50's and feels warmer. That is bad !! He then spent additional time to troubleshoot the system, and figured out that an internal air dampener door is not fully sealed and is allowing some non-cooled air to seep into the system. He said that it is common that foam around the edge of the little plastic door often keeps the door from being fully sealed. He said that each time the car is off, the door opens. Then, when the A/C operates - the door is activated. Now getting to that part of the A/C system requires "major surgery" and sent me back to the dealer. Stay tuned my fellow Camaro buddies - this will get very interesting............ Last edited by Camaromann; 09-01-2011 at 07:08 PM. |

My AC works great in this hot GA weather. They should fix it.
