New LT1 in Gen5 Z/28 ?

I've always said once the engine was announced for the Gen7 Corvette we'd know what was going into the Z/28.

You've gotta believe the Z/28 is still going to make a Gen5 appearance with this engine. No way it goes into a Gen5 SS.

I don't think you'll see this motor in a Camaro until the next gen.

Firstly, there's no Z28 as of now. Secondly, the LT1 is scheduled for Corvette in 2014. Camaro has always received its 'Vette hand-me-down motor one year after Corvette, which would put it into gen 6 territory. (scheduled for 2015)

Gen 5 will not see this motor, and will undoubtedly miss the Z23 badge as well. So far, all we have are vapors of evidence that there will even be a Z28. Not gonna happen before gen 6.

You seem to be projecting future circumstances before they happen. If you have inside information, good for you but GM can't be happy.

There is no verification of Gen 6 in 2015. I would personally state my belief that Gen 5 will survive to 2017 for the 50th anniversary edition, akin to Vette's 60th anniversary edition.

Time will tell.

He's just regurgitating the widely accepted rumor that the 6th gen will be 2015 as a 2016MY. Let's face it - the 5th gen has been around since 2006, granted it's only been for sale for 3 model years but I wouldn't be surprised if GM is doing everything it can to get the Camaro on the alpha platform asap.

We know the next generation model of Mustang will be a 2015. No way the Gen6 comes out till the MY2016. GM is going to wait for some last minute tweaks before playing their hand. That means the Gen5 has 2 MYs left. How many Gen5 SS owners would jump up to a Gen5 / LT1 with 470HP in a Z/28? Quite a few, so it makes perfect sense to build a Gen5 Z/28 for 2 years.

The biggest puzzle now will be who gets the LT1 in the Gen6 Camaro; SS or Z/28. Maybe the SS because a V6 or 4 turbo variant (new CAFE standards). We'll have to see what the other Corvette models get.

You guys might be saying the same thing. 2015 calendar year is MY2016. But since he says 2014 Corvette (model year), it's unclear if he meant scheduled 2015MY or calendar.
