I have requested that they not mount it. I will run without it until I get pulled over for it, and only then if they give me a ticket for it.

here in california, the law states that all dealers must provide the front license plate bracket to every purchaser of a car. the must only PROVIDE the bracket. they do not have to put it on.

tell your dealer not to put it on. they'll probably put it in the trunk for you to put on later. this is complete compliance with the law from their end, so they'll be happy to follow your instructions on this point.

then wait. if you get pulled over, most cops don't care, and if you happen to get one that does, it should be a fix-it-ticket. at that point, now you have to put it on, go to court and show the judge you fixed the problem and he/she should dismiss the ticket.

We have that STUPID law in Texas as well. I never had a plate on my C5 Corvette with no problems, however my boss got a ticket in his last week for no front plate. He has to install it and take a pic of it to court to get the ticket dropped from $75 to $10. I refuse to put it on my camaro when it comes in, until I get a ticket anyway. Then will reconsider. Or at least temp stick it on for a pic.

Even when you get a "fix it" ticket in CA after you show it is fixed there is a small fee for paper processing. I called Swift Motorsports about the hideaway plate. They said it can be installed on the 2010 Camaro, however it is off center and cannot be installed on vehicles with ground effects. Check their website for a short video. It is an option.

Our dealer did not install the front plate or bracket, we found it in the trunk.

A good friend of mine who is a local police officer told me that they don't usually hastle cars like ours ( Vetts. Camaros, Mustangs, etc. ) unless the person is being a real jerk, then that will get added to their ticket, but usally they don't like to bother with it. The time it gets really noticed is if you have a bracket for it and a dealer plate and a real plate on the back, that tells them that you are trying to avoid paying tolls on the local bridges and they will tag you every time !!!

As for me, I will leave it off until I absoultely have to put it on .... i.e. fix it ticket.

I'll be leaving mine off...just as my dad did with his C6. He still hasn't been stopped yet and it's been like 2 years or more.

Plus, my brother is a cop so I won't be putting mine on and I'll get dark window tint too.

You can buy suction cups and when parked you can put it on. When you leave you can just take it off and put it in the trunk.

Well, whenever I get mine, I'll take the chance of a ticket. A car like the 2010 would look weird with a front plate.
I don't have a front plate on my '98, and two months in, and about 300 miles later, it's been pretty good to me. No one's stopped us yet. *knock on wood*

Drivercomfort.com got me one. It's plastic and bolts on under the front facia. Push in to unlock and pull up, pull down and slide in to hide. Works great and doesn't mess with the front bumper. $49.95
