MPG issue

Okay so my cars average fuel economy on the highway usually says anywhere from around 28 to 32+ miles to the gallon a
With cruise on and randomly now it only goes to 18-20.
What could cause this? Drive on this freeway all the time and it always says about 30

Have you changed anything on the car recently? Or switched to different gas?

I recently upgraded my stock 18" LT trim wheels to 20x10 wheels with 275/40/20 tires on all corners. Same wheel diameter but wider. Will wider wheels (more tire friction) effect my MPG?

And I know weather effects it but weather hasn't changed much around here lately.

Wider wheels with greater friction surface is insignificant overall. However, greater unsprung weight could be the culprit. It can tell you it matters substantially.

2 summers ago I put larger/heavier wheels on the back of my SS and i lost 4 mph of trap speed in the quarter mile!

I also lost ~50-60km's per tank or there about compared to stock tires. When i switched back to stock tires, gained everything back right away.

But eh, you gotta pay to play!

Maybe I got a bad tank of gas or something because I did the same drive a couple days later and got much better mileage

I do at least 90% city driving and run ethanol free 93 octane. I am averaging around 12.4 mpg. When I got the car it was at 13 mpg. I try to reset my mpg reading everytime I fill up. Could the ethanol free gas be lowering my mileage. I don't dog the car around town but I don't baby it either.
