i always thought it was a hard shift from 1-2, at first i just figured everything was new. Now the grind is getting worse. Esp at higher rpms and under load trying to do it quickly it goes into the first part which should be the syncro mesh but the gears grind horribly. if im gentle on it i can get it in no prob. also a 3-2 downshift can be tricky and minor grind too. ill gonna call on monday to bring it in.

Any updates, Have not gone to dealer yet but mentioned to my salesman who blew it off- GF thinks im crazy as she cannot "replicate" the problem andl likes to rub it in my face but she doesnt try to shift as fast as i do - What concerned me, is I think I have smelled clutch burn - I have read in other posts, that clutches are getting burned out quite fast and full tranny replacements are happening due to the grind. can anyone comment?

If you can reproduce the issue, then take it to the dealer. I'm assuming your GF isn't an ASE certified mechanic that works at the Chevy dealership? If not, then it really doesn't matter if she can replicate it or not. On my original transmission, the problem was very intermittent.

Your salesman probably doesn't give a rip if you are having problems. The car is sold and he got paid. Everything after that is the service department's problem.

If you are smelling burning clutch then you aren't shifting right.

I have had the 1-2 grind prob 7 or 8 times on my 2011 SS with the factory Hurst shifter. I told the dealer about it. The "Camaro specialist" replicated it and is ordering new synchros etc. Hopefully it fixes it.

Only one time but it was clearly burning ill admit i ran her pretty hard. Does anyone notice and the only way I can explain it is ... bleeding into the next gear. Foot is all the way in on clutch and i release in what I feel to be the right ime but feels and soums like 1,2 and 3rd gear bleed into each other when shifting like rev laggy rev to over rev bleed

And I thought I was just shifting like an idiot. I've had my 2SS for less than a week and have grinded 1st to 2nd shifts more times than I've grinded gears in my 12 years of driving manuals.

Due to this and the idiotic skip shift, I've been starting from a stop in 2nd when possible.

Still working on getting the TSB # but not sure if this will help and could use a little help on this one myself. They are replacing the following parts. FORK, RING SET (2), 2ND GEAR, SLEEVE AND OIL (ASSUMING TRANNY FLUID) Anyone with more knowledge then me care to take a stab at what those parts are (other than 2nd gear) and if I should be concerned and step it up to get a new tranny?

Just to update you guys on my initial situation the problem persisted after having the car out for a week getting the sycronizers replaced. I tried to bring it to the same dealer again and they refused help saying that they couldnt duplicate the problem and that if i didnt believe them I could bring my car to another dealer for a second opinion. That being said the lawyers are involved and they have already contacted GM. I will update you on future changes of the situation.

I had this issue too and then I just started pulling harder on the shifter and more to the left, this prevented it from ever happening again. If the syncro's go they go, but until that happens I will run it until it blows up.

I admit I drive it like I stole it... I am a constant just before the red line shifter.... fast starts, and at nearly every light I am first in line at I am a 0-60 tester. I didn't buy this thing to baby it, I bought it to beat the living snot out of. =O)
