Get 3 or 4 positive displacement blowers, as well as a Vortech and Procharger
Record all the important parameters, and that would be a test I’d pay money to read.
Hell if fully built bottom end, lets do tests at 6-7 PSI, 12-13 PSI and then 17-18PSI ... PUMP gas real world applications .. That would be FUN!

This really shouldn't be a debate for another 90 days or so. We have done a few of the 2.9L systems for the GT500 and have found great results, unmatched parasytic loss (super high efficiency), low intake air temps and quality fitment and performance. It actually outperforms the Whipple 3.4L in my book.

However, I don't think the 2.9L will be for the faint of heart. We're talking 650RWHP and up!

Based on your experience, what would be a "safe" range of RWHP for the stock internals of the LS3? (having the best tune available)
For an ocassional racer (going to the dragstrip 1 or 2 times a month)

Thanks

"Safe" as in not breaking any parts motor or drive line? I would say anything under 500 rwhp. Above that "safe" is just how long.

I think that 500-550RWHP with the proper tuning is fine. We've got alot of guys with the LS3 putting that power range down with no problems.

Granted, they wont have as long of an engine life, they're not going to have to replace the motor any time soon.

You really should build the motor if you plan on putting down anything past 550RWHP, ESPECIALLY for a car you'll be tracking more than once a month each season.

If you put together a nicely balanced stroker motor, you can maybe see 10psi on the street and still be in the ballpark of 600+RWHP. Of course I would look into drivetrain and suspension/chassis mods to accomodate at that point.

Good point. I haven't heard anyone comment on the CV joints or shafts and their durability. How much HP (better yet TORQUE) are they good for?

so u revise this thread from the dead as ur first post when u dont bother to do a search seeing that its only a few weeks away. Whipple revised the whole unit for the camaro, front entry jack shaft. KB stayed to their traditional method. thats why it came out faster

I'm still waiting in interest. Hopefully we'll get an update soon. The more choices the better.

I'm pretty positive the wait is worth it. Whipple does spend a great deal of time and resources on R&D. I know people who have used their products for years and they're always happy!
