I just got the DB/DB update from my dealer. I didn't realize there was a DB/DD version because I hadn't read the thread in awhile. However, I can tell you that DB/DB is leaps and bounds better than my old CB/CC. Here's the improvements I've noticed in the first four days:

1) The "Random" setting remains after the car is turned off.
2) While the USB is indexing, you can now restart the current song from the beginning
3) While the USB is indexing, if you hate your current song, you can hit "next" and it will go to the first song on the USB drive, however, you can continue to hit next until you get to a song you haven't heard a million times
4) If the USB is still indexing and your song ends on the random setting, the PDIM will select another random song (It used to automatically play the first song on the USB drive and there was no option to skip forward to another song)

My other issues of hearing static on my iPod were so rare that I haven't been able to test it well enough, but I am super happy with the DB/DB version. It fixed some of the most annoying bugs in history. Random song playing now works as expected in most scenarios (item 3 is the only one that I can see being improved)

One bad thing I have noticed is a couple times the PDIM skipped to the next song before the last song was over (seconds early). This has happened about twice in 5 hours of play time over several different drives. But to be honest, it is so minor compared to all the issues I had with the "random" setting, I don't care

DB/DD installed and working great! Finally resolved the issues I've had with the USB port since July of 2009. RDM stays set. Can index more than 2500 songs. Can actually switch songs while indexing.

All I can say is...about f'ing time GM got this part right. I built and ordered my 1LT/RS the way I wanted it and this was the one lingering annoyance of all the options I picked out. I've been to 3 dealerships and done 8 service visits for this one little headache over the past 2 years. Glad it's finally working the way it should have on day 1.

I hope that helps.

I can't reproduce it on command in my car...what else can I do? On the highway on my way to work the iPod will randomly stop working...then when I get out of work, it is fine...then when I'm 4 hours from civilization with the cruise control on it will get staticy...this blows.

How about just reproduce the issue where the Random setting is not persisted when the car is turned off? This is easy to duplicate and the new unit fixes it.

MikeOD, you could take a tech for a drive as well. That way you can address the issue as it happens and the tech can get a better idea as to the issues that your vehicle is having.

My car has DB/DB and the random setting actually seems to work correctly.

Sometimes it takes an hour or more of driving...and sometimes it doesn't happen for days...I guess I just have to waste another $90 on a second new module (since I already did this once in May on my own dime when nobody at the dealership would even look at the car to upgrade from CE to DB hardware) and install it myself.

It seems the PDIM has had another update. For a while here it was not listed on GM Accessories Zone, but now it has returned with a new P/N. The new P/N is: 22872777 which is higher than the the newest one posted on here: 22797218. So I am guessing that means the hardware itself has had another update?

So, I'm a little curious...I just got my PDIM updated, and now it reads DA/DX....would it be worth it to make a fuss with the dealership to get it changed to the DB/DD? As of right now, I haven't noticed any issues, but I also haven't put much effort forth into testing the system out. Thanks

Anyone have this yet? Maybe its the 2012 model. I wonder what the HW/SW version is, and what the benefits are. I don't want to go back again!!!

Its your call but u may have some new devise at some point in the future that would not work with DA/DX but will with DB/DD So even if your current hardware/software works fine, I would recommend u up date to the news versions possible.

well, if what you have still works for what you do......keep what ya got.....then once you have a problem or get close to the end of your warrantee.....get it changed out the the newest HW/SW.

I had nothing but problems with DA/DX. I'd say even if you're having small problems, just go get it fixed if you're still under warranty.

What kind of problems should I be looking for?
