Car over heating?

We installed a cam on my car not to long ago and I think my car is over heating. It's reaching Temps up to 223° at idle but it doesn't stay up there it goes down to 190-200 when driving. It's also not tuned yet.
I tried to re-flush the system again but when it heats up the fluid level rises and spills from the top. I've never done this before so idk if I'm doing it correctly.

I also don't recall my fans turning on at 200° when are the suppose to turn on?

*** I know I need the tune but can't take it till the 27th

Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Hows your coolant level, and my fans turn on at 220°, don't know if that's the same temp for all...

Don't drive until you get it sorted out, you'll risk blowing a head gasket!!

so does it go beyond 223F, or thats when it starts coming back down? is this after driving for awhile or in traffic? if so to the above, then there doesn't seem to be a problem. mine spikes to 220F, then comes back down. very common for me when i hit the drag strip. as far as the coolant overflowing, just fill it to cold setting. this will give you plenty of room for fluid expansion. the tune will only change when your fans kick on, your thermostat setting controls when it flows coolant. if you didn't change it, then it should start to open at 180F and is full open by 223F when you said it starts coming back down.

Mine never gets over 205 no matter the temp outside or driving conditions.

My car started to over heat after the cam swap took it back to the shop added coolant and never had an issue since. My temps never get above 200° either even when at the strip and I still have the stock thermostat as well.

I did my cam in 2013, had overheating at startup. Could not get it to take more coolant. Fans would come on but radiator was cold, thus cold air was coming from radiator fans. My thermostat was stuck. So I messed around with the heater controls in the car, switched to vent, the floor then to defrost and such. All of a sudden the coolant temp came down has been normal ever since.

What temp was it running before? The same,if I had to bet. Your just watching it closer now. It'll be fine..When you have it tuned have the fans tuned to come on at a lower temp than the 220 that's set stock
