I think you just opened Pandora's box (the good box). I have been thinking of trying it in my car just to show it could be used on the paint but have not had the time. Thanks for being brave for all of us.

Home Depot, better stock up on Plasti Dip.

i was worried about doing it but, wanted it done.
i did not plan on removing it.
but i along with alot of people do not live in a perfect world.
and since I am not perfect, i make mistakes also.
so it had to be removed and alot of fear that it would not be that easy to do.
i was going to recover that spot anyway.
but very much to my surprise it came of rather easy.
and it did not mar the paint or anything.
it was on strong enough that it would not come off on its own, but if needed to be removed it could be.

I wonder if Plasti-Dip could match Victory Red? Hmmm? That would definitely help in the gill area where I have some serious road rash.
If you click on my link you will see they have a make your own color kit. So yea I think it is possible.

What's the recommended way to make an edge with the stuff? Mask off with painters tape? Wondering how people are doing their bowties. Maybe spray everything then take a blade to the edges

You can mask it with painters tape. Just remove the masking while its still wet or the dip will peel off with the tape. The tape makes a good edge

ROFL I know what you mean!
I may actually do my roof too. On the list for me is:
GM GFX front lip
Rims
Roof
LS7 style trunk
Taillight bezels
Front bumper just under the grill

If I like how all these spots look I'll start saving to have each area painted/powder coated.

A better alternative to RoadWrap?

I think so!!!

What do you have to do to prep the area? Will it stick to a car if it's been freshly waxed?

How do you keep the application smooth and even?

I am SO putting a car wide stripe of plasti-dip on my car from front spoiler tip to rear spoiler edge (even the mirrors!). Only the sides and the back will be IOM. When I tire of it just peel?! Awesome!
