Cannot decide if I really care about leather (thing holding me back on 2SS vs. 1SS)
I cannot decide if I really care about leather on the 2SS.
I currently drive a 2013 Camaro 2SS. It has leather, but I cannot decide if I didnt have leather if I would even care. I care more about the sporty-ness of a Camaro than the gran tourer-ness of a Camaro. I care about the engine, sounds, and how it drives and all the driving modes. But... I cannot decide about the leather, help me decide. |

I prefer a high quality cloth over leather - this makes my decision easy! Cloth needs no maintenance, hold you in place better (higher coeff of friction than leather), doesn't get super hot or cold in high & low ambients, and probably a little lighter.
With that said, I've only ridden in and never owned a car with leather seats, so take my opinion with a grain of salt! |

Well if you get the leather you will get more amenities like cooled and heated seats, among some other options included with the2SS. My main reason I will be getting leather is the cooled and heated seats. Ask yourself if you want these in your camaro?

If you are on the fence, you can always get the 1SS and have your dealer install Katzkin leather. I was about to head that direction. It's about $1995 - 2295. Not too bad. If you only need leather, that might be your best. If you add heated and ventilated seats to Katzkin leather, it's another $1995. At that point it makes sense to do factory installed.
I almost went this route but talked myself into a 2SS. |

After driving my new 4Runner for the past 2 months Ive learned to love the cloth seats in it. The only thing is I need those ventilated seats, best thing since sliced bread. Nothing like leaving the gym after a good workout with a swampy ass and turning on those ventilated seats.

Cloth ftw. Never been a fan of leather. Looks good in pictures, feels weird when sitting in it.

Bose is mediocre at best these days. They'll get replaced by something much nicer, Hertz most likely, maybe Focal.
Leather seats, yes. Cool in the summer, warm in the winter. Easier to clean, less tear resistant, and taken care of, they'll last a lot longer. To wit: My wife has an 03 Lexus with the light tan leather seats. I have a 03 Tundra with cloth seats. Right now, her seats are spotless, and look great. (Lexol products twice a year) and the seats in the truck look 10+ years old. Coffee stains, etc. (portable steam cleaner, twice a year). Leather is a no-brain'er for me.

2016 2SS is one of the most comfortable seats I seat in. A huge improvement over last gen.

having had both, leather is not worth spending the extra $$$ on compared to some other options you could have (e.g. MRC).
Additional (Inflammatory) Comment: Do we really need heated seats & heated steering wheels??? We have really become a nation of sissies (oooh my steering wheel is cold!)

I want leather, but don't want all the other stuff on the 2SS. I will have Katskins leather added afterwards. Even the kit is only about $750, and my shop will install it for a few hundred bucks...this way I can pick exactly what I want.
