Is it ever too late for a catch can?

Just wondering if it's too late for a catch can on my car... i'd imagine it can never be too late.

No. You can always have an upper induction cleaning done to clean up whatever build up has already occurred.

I just put one on in April of this year and with 30,000 miles on the engine I was amazed at the amount of oil caught in the catch can. I'm glad I put it on.

I did mine around 6k. Seafoamed intake and gas first and then added catch can.

Here's what I collected in the first 1708 miles on the 2014 1LT. Six qts.Mobil1 5w30 and an AC PF2129, and she's ready for 10K miles.

With car off, take off the air tube connecting between air box and throttle body. Push throttle flap open and put your finger in oil catch basin behind flap (reach from underside of flap). If you have lots of oil in catch basin, then yes on the upper induction cleaning.

Mine was filthy at 11K miles.

I installed one with my supercharger and it works like a champ. It's a great idea and investment.

How do you do this upper induction cleaning? with some special fluid? I have 50k miles and barely looking into buying a CC.

Dealer generally does this. Not sure of the price, but an alternative is a seafoam treatment both in the gas, oil (for 100 miles or less before changing) and finally sprayed into the air intake while running. Lots of people do seafoam treatments. Plenty of youtube videos with instructions as well as a few threads here.

Have the dealer do it. They use a better chemical than Seafoam.

Do this just before an oil change.

Anyone successfully run without a catch can, without issues?
