Can yourself or your dealer go get your car at the rail yard?

If you have already made purchase and your insurance now covers the car?

It sucks, but is just part of the process, ensures the car is delivered, and allows the dealer to quadruple check everything.

How to hug your camaro
Buy the car that you would most like to get beat in. The other guy will always be faster.

I read on here that the dealer went to the rail yard and picked it (ZL1) up.

You wouldn't want to even if you could. The car ships with none of the fluids in it. That is part of the PDI to have all that done.

That's not true ... They are driven on and off the transports, and the PDI is performed at the dealer.

It has all the fluids in it,other than needing filled-up with gas and the windshield-washer fluid topped-off,but it still needs to have all the other fluids "double-checked",along with a state inspection and/or emissions sticker if required by your state.
I've worked in GM dealerships for over 23 years, you'd be surprised what we find that the factory missed or left off.....missing fill plugs on manual transmissions or front axles on 4wd trucks,emblems/decals not installed, missing floor mats, incorrect wheel center caps, etc, etc.

Under "certain" circumstances yes, they will allow dealers to go to the plant and/or railyard to pick-up a vehicle, but it must be the dealer with a dealer plate.
They did this a couple years ago with the Cruze at the Lordstown plant in Ohio, they let us dealers come and do a "driveaway" with our first retail Cruze unit.

The only thing it won't have is much gas.

Why would you purchase a car and get insurance on it before it ever arrives at the dealership and before ever seeing it?

The biggest problem I would see is the trucking union would go nuts. It would cost them a pay day.

Drake. Don't.

If there is anything wrong with it such as a scratch or dent you will no way of proving the rail guys did it and not you. Let it get to the dealer and let them do their stuff. You will get to enjoy the envious faces of all the folks looking at your car.
