Sears / Kmart close list
so far only 79 of 100-120 stores have been picked to close.
thought for sure our Oregon store would go first, but no the two in Toledo got the axe first. [our Oregon store use to be grand, now the floors are 13 different colors and none of the shelving matches, dollar stores have a better look.] http://searsholdings.com/about/122711_close.pdf |

The biggest problem is that the company isn't willing to put any money back into the stores and they aren't competitive price wise. This isn't a good thing....at this rate I don't think it will be long be ole Sears burns through enough cash to go bankrupt. Its too bad, having worked there as a LP Manager for 5 years a lot of people I know will be out of work.

none in arizona .
kmart, i guess 30 years ago is what Target is now. See what doing nothing in business gets you. Sears use to be the be all, end all of shopping, but that was decades ago too.

I suspect that will at least two in Arizona. I know there have liquidators at some of the Sears Full Line stores the last month or two.

If they are pulling a profit they probably won't shut down. The sales amount is so much a factor as is profit, at least that's how it was before I left.

Problem is Kmart owns Sears, Kmart stores were already in shambles when they bought Sears, anyone could see it coming. They won't even fix up their own brand to keep it going...............

I wish my local Kmart were to close. I prefer a Walmart super store.

Sears is the one losing money, not the Kmart side. Kmart has been run very lean for many years since the chapter 11 filing. Now they actually make a profit while Sears bleeds money.

For me I like sears. I buy all my major appliances there. There tools keep getting cheaper made and not as much in the USA so I pretty much stopped buying craftsman though. Pretty soon it will be down to Wally world and they will control everything.

They have some of the strongest brands in Craftsman and Kenmore. They have always done well with appliances and tools/garden. The clothing has always been a disappointment. I'm glad none of the sears by me are closing. Kmart I couldn't care less a about. I was at a Home Depot returning something that I received as a gift that I already had and was looking at the Husky Tools. Everyone of them is made in China. Now I'm sure they are fine tools and I know it's hard these days not to get something Made in China, but Craftsman handtools are made in the USA. Supporting US jobs and they have always served me well. It kind of bothered me that EVERY tool they sold was from China. Maybe it's just me.
