2 seconds a lap after 30 laps is a minute behind. a minute is a lot. how much heat will the cobalt have then?

im not trying to pick sides but in testing the mustang, in some configuration, was as quick or slightly quicker than an E92 M3. now it could have been a ringer car like the one that put down 395rwhp.
who races 30 laps at the nurburgring?

anyways, i doubt that was a ringer car by looking at the trap speeds. Looked more like a ringer dyno. Im more inclined to believe track numbers than some extrapolation some dyo operator spits out.

nobody unless its an endurance race.

well i'll find out for myself soon enough. im going to dyno it, and run it at the track. im just not sure what to expect. if i mph it at 112, ill get the ET down. 41psi in the fronts, and 21psi in the backs. im not going to bullshit anyone. it will be whatever it is. ive sat in one already and revved the motor. it does sound bad-ass.

i was going to dyno it in huntsville, but the dyno i use in smyrna doesnt read high. if anything it reads a little low. its at a chevy SCCA shop. ive seena lot of cars on the dyno there, and so far no numbers higher than they should be.

It's because out on the street they can't really talk, unless they have tons of mods and think they are all high and mighty for taking on stock ss.

And you don't think you're all high and mighty with your stock ss? Your comments suggest the opposite. Seems to me there are a ton of people on this forum from both sides of the fence that need reality checks. Have any of you guys even run on a road course? I'm not just talking to the camaro guys. I'd be willing to bet that most of you would get walked by an s2000 on most road courses your first time out. Who gives a shit? Everyone's just arguing to argue now. The '11 GT will likely pull an SS on a road course. There's logic to support this, but not the other way around. There's no way to know if it will be a killing or not and frankly for 99% of camaro and mustang owners, it simply won't matter at all.

I dunno. If the guy driving the S2000 was on his first time out at the same time, I think I could take him on my first time out.

Both sweet cars. Camaro looks and sounds better, and has more Mod potential. Mustang is likely faster and superior in any performance comparison stock vs ANY stock SS.

As others have said, it doesn't matter on the street, and significant driver skill matters more than the measurable difference between these cars anyway even on a road course.

Still, if you want to know which actually is the faster one, it's Mustang for 2011.

Yet another valuable response. What really matters here is that the two cars are just about as close as you can get in a straight line, which is how most of the races between the two will be settled, and there might be one person at maximum in this thread that will ever run a '10-'11 SS against a '11 GT on a road course.

all this talk of road course domination. it got me thinking about wearing my sister out in her turbo eclipse in a volkswagen beetle.(1973 variety) in ft worth. for all the power her car had, she has no idea HOW TO DRIVE IT. i hun gon her back bumper to illustrate driving within the limits of a car is not driving at all. i had to hang out the beetle.

im not highly skilled by any means, but i can hang the ass out at reasonable speeds (85mph) a sentra i owned chasing a 325i.

im gonna bet there are experienced autocrossers in here who cold lap me with a slower car. the point is; using the times of a pro driver is dumb.

if so many are having trouble getting decent 60' times with their cars, how are you gonna quote track times as how fast your car is? my stang is ony as fast as i can drive it. not as fast and some guy is BFE can drive his. what ET are you gonna paint on the window for bracket racing? the time your car goes with you driving or Evan Smith's times?

rediculous. really it is.

gotta ignore 2ssarmy none of his replies are really worth anything. its a good thing his car gets more looks from people, because mine will be on the brakes for 300ft before his crosses the 1/4, more time for them to look at it.

i love the mod for mod argument, it never gets old. its a pocket book that wins at that point, not the car.
