But I'm pretty sure GM won't do a unique NA engine for just 1,500 Z/28s.

If the Z/28 is coming out this early, I expect them to sell more than 1,500.

Well then, logically they aught to spread the love.

Anything that is sold with a gen V small block could use such an engine. Silverado SS. Escalade-V. Option on Corvettes. A last hurah for RWD Holdens. Crate engines.

Lots of possibilities. Not a ton of volume on each one, but add it up and its probably a worth while endeavour.

Meant per year, not total. I think the LS7 was originally slated for about 6,000 Z06s per year. So a hand built, high cost LS7 replacement still needs some volume to justify the validation and development costs.

I wouldn't expect it to go in trucks any more than the LS7 did. If it's a low volume, hand built engine, whatever it is needs to handle the sticker price impact.

Oh ok, that makes sense.

I looked up the C6 Z06 production and it only broke 6k per year for the first 3 years. The 4 remaining years, production dropped into the hundreds.

Had a house / shop guest over the weekend. Subject: why is the 6th Gen not selling in larger numbers?

I know the subject has been beat to death in other threads. I am asking the question here, #becausehouse

I'd be interested in a 6th Gen 1LE but I have too much invested time/love/money into my 5th. I'd have to start over. I'd also initially be slower too.

I would wager that there are a bunch of us in the same situation.

From Car and Driver onlimne

"A notable power upgrade to the C8 will occur in January 2019, attributable to a new four-cam, 32-valve V-8 set to be presented at NAIAS."

I've seen very little marketing. (Compared to the 5Gen and no movie parts)

And there you go! I figured we'd see something like that soon. Probably with twin turbos. I believe the mid-engined Zora will be a separate design/car from the standard C8 Corvette.

Interesting times.
