Necro! Valid question, though.

Note that some states have a limit on how many white lights can be on the front of the car.

In Georgia, the law states that you cannot have more than two sets of "beams" on at a time. I have to imagine this would be the case in other states as well. It would get down to a real fine line if it were to just say "lights". The audis and other cars that have individual LEDs as eyebrows could be considered individual lights. But still, your point of checking your local laws is very good Tony!

I must admit I never spent much time looking at the front of my car during day, night, lows, highs. I assume in stock configuration our DRLs shut off when we turn our headlights on? So are all of the people adding DRL harnesses manually turning them off somehow at night or are they just crossing their fingers?

My resistors from gen5diy got fairly hot so I did decide to hard mount them in case the hazards were ever left on for any amount of time. The mounts extruded on the resistors had the holes so close you cannot fit a fastener. This is how I mounted them. I only took pica of the passenger side but the drivers is a mirror image.

In stock form the lower fog lights are on during the day, turn the knob once, and just the halos are on, turn it again, and just the halos and headlights are on.

The blinkers and fogs never are running with everything else.
The harness everyone gets is to make the fogs stay on all day, with the halos, and with the halos and headlights.

Sorry about that.

http://www.vleds.com/bulb/3157-3156-...57-1-pair.html

These are the same, only with less LEDS. I dont see the 92 led ones I bought anymore, you can try another site. But they might be bigger leds or something and shine just as much.

What you need is 3157 Switchbacks(dual color). You can try other websites. I dont think you need the CK kind of bulb base (get the regular), I think its only for toyotas.

There are two "types" sometimes, one blinks amber and white, the other blinks amber and off, both run white during the day.

They dont come with the resistors on that site, you can get them from ebay, or any other site that sells them if V-leds are out if them.

Remember you need two resistors.

You can get the wire anywhere as well, its usually good to go with a close to similar guage, i had some lying around.

Would a subset of these instructions be useful for the DIY of simply having the signals light up with Halos?

I would think so, you can run the "jumper wire" to the same middle post of the socket/harness that I did, but use the stock bulbs and see, you still might need a different bulb.

What I did accomplishes a few things:

1. Allows one element or set of leds on the turn signal bulb to come on with the halos

2. Changes the stock bulb to a dual color, one set/element amber, and the other white

3. Adds resistors (only needed for LEDs) because leds do not cause any resistance, and this causes the bcm to think the bulb is out and blink faster.

If you dont use LEDS and dont want to change the color, then only step one of this post is needed. If you want to change to LEDS or change the color, you have to follow the rest.
