New personal best for the 1/4

I went out Friday night and made about 15 passes on the 1/4. I'm still having trouble with my throttle body closing by itself at around 6000 rpm if I try to run out a gear. The clutch is overheating if I try to hot lap and you just cannot force the lever into the next gear. No traction compound at all on the surface but if I would burn the he!! out of the tires and stage fairly quickly I could not over power the tires. I now have the fastest 60ft time for a manual car on drag radials on the 60ft fast list. I had someone else video my run and as soon as I get the video I'll post it up on my build page. Here is the slip on my new record run.

great 60' with one of the strangest e.t./mph combos I have seen. That 6000 rpm hesitation has to be killing the e.t. +32 mph for the 2nd 1/8!

I've decided I'm not a fan of the "lanch control" It won't let the car rev above 4500 with the clutch in and if the tires are good and warm and I stratight dump the clutch at the 4500 launch control rpm it bogs in the first 5 feet so I have to hold the throttle wide open and then drag the clutch until the launch control turns off and gives me the full run on the tach.....then let the clutch all the way out. It was pretty difficult but I got it right on one pass. And I'm afraid this clutch is not going to last another 30 passes if I don't change something....because I was getting it so hot it would not go into gear again....

Yeah, the limiter is set at 7 but if I didn't shift at 6 I didn't know what I would get because the throttle body may just close on it's own. I believe it did in the early gears on this run but I got the back 1/8 together. Yeah, a 1.49 60 foot and 3.8 seconds on the last 1/8... obviously I lolly gagged somewhere in the middle...lol. But this was the best run I had on the night. Most were low 11's. This thing is really not that easy to drive fast....lol.

Thanks for all the positive comments guys. I'm still trying to figure out how to run faster without tearing up this $3000 clutch...

So just to get this right, you have launch control activated but you drag the clutch in order to have your rpms go past the 4500 mark and then dump the clutch? Just trying to figure out a new technique thanks for helping and clarifying if you can

Great 60...I would guess that your MPH should be well north of 140 with that kind of HP...

I'm going to have to check into this again. I have a line lock that is supposed to completely diable the traction control. Sometimes it does not and I even stall trying to do the burnout. I usually hold the button for 7 seconds everytime I restart the car to disable nannies but sometimes I forget... like if someone oils the track and they hold us up for a bit and I shut the car off to keep the heat down. I don't know for sure if "launch control" is turned off with traction control. That's what I want to test. It seems like the car will just not rev as high with the clutch in and the car not moving. As soon as the tires start to turn it starts to bounce off the limiter.... I hold the rpms as high as can until the last amber and then start the clutch out and drag it, the car moves a little, I hammer the gas and then as soon as it sounds like it is picking up rpms, I let the clutch out the rest of the way. If I dump the clutch it lurches and bogs....

I really don't think there were more than 30 cars there and most of them did less than 5 runs. I only had to wait in line a couple of times, most of the time I could just drive up and run solo like I did on this pass.

I really would be a lot faster if I would have just left the stock gear ratios alone. But I didn't.... So now that I have the 3.23 auto rearend in the car the overall gear ratios are really too high for the 1/4. I have to shift out of 3rd at around 120 if my throttle body stays open. My car will do 160+ in 4th.

It is kind of funny because I know the car is fast but if I give someone else a ride, I took 3 people for a 1/4 mile burst that night... they really freak and give me the holy crap after the run is over. It is a lot of fun. Better than a roller coaster...
