With a hand pad I can go right up to the edge of the plastic trim and not have to mask it like I would with a machine. I'd just as soon do the whole thing that way instead of getting out the machine and extension cord and bothering with all that extra masking and pad cleaning afterward.
You can put it on by hand and get good results, though by machine cuts my time in 1/2 at least, if not 2/3, especially using a bonnet to remove sealant residue.

At the 20:45 part of this video, the machine application with a PC process is shown, using LCH Crimson pads. I think some of the tips may help you with your sealant application, by saving you time and product.

Thanks for the video, but keep in mind, I have a convertible, so from the doors up there's nothing to machine wax. If I had a hard top I probably would use a machine.

Thanks for all of the replies guys! I have read through them all and saved some links for later reading!

I am thinking I will end up getting a starter kit from Adams that comes with the basics! Anyone have a preference to which one they liek most?

I am not an Adams user but look on line and see what the offer. I would highly recommend claying the car also. I got a clay towel which works awesome and it's a lot easier and faster to me. Makes to get fine grade only. You can get one on Amazon for like $40. Or Adams will have the traditional clay bar.
