Tire Question: Sort of different

I have about 17k miles on the original Pirellis. I have used them for Solo, and occasional timed laps on ovals and road courses. I noticed today that the fronts are worn pretty thin but the rear are in good shape with lots of miles left.
Here's the question. In the past I have been hesitant to buy just front or rear tires. I always bought 4 when I needed new tires. Plus, if I just buy front I will be locked into Pirellis as when the rear are gone the front wilkl probably be OK so I buy rears, and on and on it goes.
Should I buy four Pirellis (I've been happy with their performance), ot just two, or four of somethingn else you guys might recommend. I live in SoCal so weather is not any issue.
Any thoguhts would be appreciated.
Thanks
Dave

Dave, if you are going to stick with the Pirellis, go head and just get your fronts now, as you said the rears are good. if you are going to change brands, get a complete set.
