Good Idea? Bad Idea?
Hey everyone.... With hyltons latest 8,000 post that made most of us think the vins were in the 8000s to find out that he meant members It got me thinking a bit. Now granted I am sitting here desperately waiting for someone to come into my store this may just be a thinking out loud idea.
I sit here realizing more everyday that my dream of owning a camaro is getting more and more of just that. A dream. Then I think, I wonder how many other people on here have had their dream of owning a camaro crushed because of the economy. Either due to layoffs, plant closings or in my case signifigantly (sp?) reduced sales. I thought it would be a good idea if CAMARO5 would do its own raffle or something similar. I don't have any idea on how this would work or if they would want to do it. But with 8,000 members If everyone did this at 5 bucks a pop that would be 40,000. Now I know that everyone wouldn't do it or could do it but this is just me thinking out loud. Good Idea or Bad? |

The drawing would have to be some kind of live thing or something, so that everyone can see that it really would be "random"...

I haven't voted yet, but it depends on how thoroughly it is conducted. There are a lot of logistics that would need to ge worked out.
Would it be for USA only, if not is the car legal in the other countries? Who purchases the car and hangs on to it.? Is the car purchased, or is the money just raffled off? If the Car is purchased, to who's specs? How does the car get delivered, and who is responsible for the expenses for shipping it? What taxes are needed to be paid, and who has to pay them? What type of liability/risk does Camaro5 put themselves at by hosting it? What happens if someone wrecks the car and dies, the family then sues Camaro5...... Just a few things I could think of off the top of my head.

woa.... lol Like I said I was just thinking out loud. I dont see how you could hold anyone responsible for some stupid thing you did yourself (however I am currently dealing with a situation similar but without the death)

There is no way you will get all 8000 members to even realize that this is going on. 2400 of our members have never posted. Not once!!! Let alone do a raffle for a camaro. If you lose those tickets then you have lost 12000 dollars... And I just about bet that out of the other 5 thousand members, only half of them will ever know that this raffle is going down. Leaving you at a LS model camaro if your lucky... Don't get me wrong. I love your Idea, but it is so hard to get people on this forum to join something...
Look at it this way. I run a club in this forum which is called the "camaro owners club"(see signature below vvv). Seriously, I only have a 115 or so members. Paaaaaaleeeeeeeeeeeeseeeeeeeeeeeee. I know that half of this forum has owned a camaro before. They just don't take the time. Heck we had a "which is better mustang or camaro thread" and I think we only got a couple hundred votes. Getting people to participate is your MAIN PROBLEM! |

I love your I dea as well, but just also know how hard it is to get people to participate. I ran a Rally for motorcycles, and did a few group discounts for aftermarket parts for motorcycles.
People aren't very trusting, and as you found out, people are very sue happy. They do it, just to get rich quick, or so thy think...

The purpose I think was to have someone who lost their job, still be able to win a Camaro. You can't exclude anyone, so what if someone who has a Camaro, or is getting a Camaro wins this new Camaro?
