You don't have to believe me when they don't set pricing yet, but at least follow the logic.

Let's say you're a seat designer. First, you draw it on paper. After you do this, you've got to get a computer and some software to professionally draw out your design. Pick out your fabrics. It doesn't really matter how many pieces you buy because the manufacturer has a fixed overhead and should make at least a small profit. Don't forget to offer a couple of different varieties for people who want other interior colors. Most manufacturers offer around 3. Keep in mind that you'll also need to fit those seats to the car, so you need to design some bolts for the floor. You'll need a manual and a power version. The power version has at least a couple of different manufacturers involved because the moving parts have to be made by a company that specializes in that. Make sure to also consider heated seats in the design and to let them know how much you expect to order. That brings me to market research. You'll need to pay for that. Make sure to budget for technical issues along the way and to record all the hours you worked. How much did all of that cost?

That's just one team. There's a whole league of teams working on the Camaro, and all of their costs result in a baseline. After doing some additional research, Chevrolet can estimate how many of a certain package may sell and figure out the balance between price and volume. Does all that make sense?

^_^ and the cogs keep turning...
On my wish list is a Z28 model to compete with the Boss, even if it is a limited edition thing like the Boss is, and one big wish list item, which i think a lot of people agree with me on, is a few options to improve SS performance, like choosing rear end gears and such, or even making a special performance package like the 1LE mmmm tasty...
and the cogs keep turning...

Hey Blur, great write up and thanks for posting the vids
That ZL1 front fascia is definitly growing on me, the side skirts look like an add on piece. Cool to know what was behind thhe design, oh and Projector fogs?! GM is listening.
Already got the cash sitting for that front fascia, just dont want to have to wait :(

Another question that you might or might not be able to answer. I personal love the suede on the inside for 1 its function over leather and 2 its higher end look and feel. but it being an option what will be standerd? id assume leather in the same place the suede is.

Im soo looking forward to the day i can see this car in person.

I would like to thank Scott Settlemire, John Fitzpatrick, and Al Oppenheiser for spending a lot of time answering our questions and for the love of the Camaro.

I was even able to get my trim piece signed! Something I forgot to get done in C5fest last year.....

Do we still order the electric passenger seat bolt on directly from GM, even if the dealership will not install for the customer..? Sounds strange to me...
