Or double latch the hood so there is no obstruction in the middle.

As far as the mail slot goes, I like it. I think it gives the car more character. It would be VERY easy to have a body shop shave it. And the stripes, if your that picky then the same body shop that shaves the mail slot can paint stripes on the car in any color you want and then you wont have any stickers on your car. But if you want stickers then any reputable sticker/sign shop can make the stripes longer without a problem. Alot of the stuff yall are saying is hypacritical. Like the vents on the sides and the mail slot on the front are "ricey". Vynil stripes are ricey, spoilers are ricey, ambiant lighting is ricey. Basiclly if somebody doesnt like something its considered "ricey". If you dont like something on the car then change it. GM cant please all the people, all the time.

Last time I checked there was a stripe thread... Why not post about the stripes there?
Why are scoops that work and stripes important to most of us? Well Let me try to explain it to you. Soldiers on the battlefield can try to tell you what it was like, what it smelled like, and looked like as the smoke cleared. But sadily unless you were there you cannot and will not ever know what it was like to drive no excuses hi RPM factory performance cars. Stripes and functional air intakes are the guide posts back to a time when a DZ 302 or a LT-1 equipped Camaro could beat a car with over a hundred additional cubic inches at both the drags and on the street. When the race was over bold stripes and/or functional air induction were the stark memories left on the opposing car owners and on the proud driver of that special stock factory Camaro. That is exactly why these cars command a cult following, make the cover of car magazines over and over and still hold the high prices they do today. Believe me there is something very special and and profound about a 7000 RPM Power shift in a factory stock car. If you were there or have the ability to do so then you know what I am talking about. 2010 is going to be very special for many of us. Camaro traditions need to be as authentic as possible and I believe Chevrolet is working to correct what needs to be corrected as production gets closer. Will they get it right? Time will tell. |

theres going to be a LOT of cutting to make that work due to the way the car's frame is made. fyi... there's actually a few posts with pictures detailing that exact thing.... and how it could be made functional with minimal work.... ill give you a hint to where its at.... I posted in it.... and so did Kyle2k

They cant, because they designed the hood latch systems to be directly behind the slot. To open it up, would remove the option of opening the hood.
Now if you riced it up with hood pins.. <_< |

We already knew that. We've come to terms with it. It's okay. If you really want it to be functional, be prepared to annihilate the front of your car for it. I, for one, don't think it is worth the expense.

This has been covered in the past , but I too don't see why GM had to "RICE" up the car with fake slots ..
