15-20?? Where are you getting it painted? you could get Chip Foose to paint it for 20,000. A good body shop can do it for about 4-6000. Couple Here listed what they paid, Love the Kandy apple red. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-g...ent-color.html |

Holy cow, if it's going to cost more than $5K I'll definitely hold on to it and trade it for a 2012.

Yes,$5000 is an unrealistic number for a complete color change. Factoring in all the labor to tear the car completely apart and reinstall everything is a huge factor in the cost. Color changes are very expensive.

I was looking into a paint job for an older Camaro and the shop I deal with said a decent paint job would start at $6,000. Then he asked what color we wanted and we said we wanted it to be black to match our 2011 Camaro. Then he said "oh, black starts at $10,000!
Black shows everything and must be perfect. Don't know who thought black was the cheapest? Chris.... |

ahhh noooo lol way too hot! a color change will cost you 7000-8000 for the external body area with doors and trunk, you are looking around 10,000 if you want the entire engine compartment done due to you have to remove everything. and most of the time depending on the painter you actually get a much better than factory paint job on the refinish, the color is always a little bit off unless you blend it. painters have to play down there work to get it match factory textures. imo trade it in unless you go for a custom paint job keeping half of the iom |

Get a 2012 and swap the mods. Don't waste your time repainting.

As far as paint... I'll tell you how to get a custom paint job you're proud of and will only cost a few hundred bucks. Do it yourself. Hear me out. I wanted a custom paint on my old Bronco II years ago while I was in High School. I didn't have the tools or the know-how to get it done on my own. So I enrolled in an auto-body repair class at the local CC. Got some experience working on other cars - people would bring their cars in to donate to the cause (this could be another option for you too, just ask! ). When the time came I put the effort in and had what was, as far as I know, the only three-color desert camouflage (DCU pattern) Bronco II ever! LINK It started as a Black/Orange striped deal... so a total transformation is possible with time. Just one night a week, had access to the shop, all of the tools, and the experience of the instructors to help me out. And I think that if anyone is serious about saving $4000 to $20,000 (apparently) they can make time one night a week to make it cost $500 instead. As far as paying for the class, some schools allow you to audit the class (no credit) at a reduced price. Former military or law enforcement? They'll work with you too. Still, one 3 or 4 hour class shouldn't cost too much at a CC. So your grand total might be closer to $1500, but you'll have acquired a new skill and will be proud of the work you've done!

Actually that is a viable option.... I hear that will cost under 2k and you can remove it if you want to resell it.
