Frustrating day

Has anybody ever had that one guy decides to pull up next to you that makes you just wanna ? I was on my way home from work today on the 303 which is a 2 lane on each side. I was in the fast lane and someone in an Elantra(?) pulls up next to me in the slow lane and just sits there in my blind spot. Matching my speed. I was doing... maybe 75, which is pretty typical for that highway. Its not very busy. But For like 3-4 miles I was trying to shake this guy without driving like a jerk myself. I'm not looking to getting a ticket or something. I'd speed up a little, so would he. I'd slow down, he would too. I ended up missing my exit because he wasn't letting me over. Finally, I just said screw it, dropped a to 4th and pinned it. And as soon as I did get over, he changes to the fast lane and goes past me. .... I love my car but I hate the attention it brings (sometimes). I did NOT provoke this guy. He just, for whatever reason, decide to stay on my side the whole time.

There was no one TO pass. Like I said, that freeway is really quiet. He came up on me from behind going pretty quick and then merged to the slow lane like he was going to pass or get off the freeway, but then he just .... didn't.

Honestly, I love that drive. That stretch made me want my Camaro. Its like a private freeway cause no ones ever on it really. Only curves I've seen since moving here. I think i'd freak out if I had to take bell or happy valley every day.

Its still the passing lane. Maybe he was wondering why you were cruising in it.
If you were in the right lane, none of this would happen.. You'd have made your exit, and he wouldn't have been in your right side blind spot.

Happens to me just about everyday. My highway cruising speed is usually 75, there are times I pass someone and they speed up to cut me off from getting back over. I also have had many time a Moron come flying up on my butt and just tailgate me switching lane when I do. Sometimes I become a jerk and just slow down and hang with the person next to me, then there are those times I slow down, let them get tired of going slow and when they start to pass..... drop the hammer!

You're projecting your laws on his state. Don't do that.

In Arizona, passing on the right is perfectly acceptable behavior. It's even in the driver's manual from the MVD.

It may be legal, but it really isn't the safe thing to do.

No, the unsafe thing to do is be ignorant of state driving laws and not expect someone to pass on the right.

Not to be jerk, but at any time did you signal your desire to move over to the right lane?

If you did, and they didn't let you over, then yeah, they either weren't paying attention or were being a jack@ss. I find that most people simply don't think about things like, "Am I in their blind spot". They just don't know about this stuff. But hey, they can't read your mind either. Just a thought.
