Angry Todays kids are wimps...

Anyone miss the days of bike riding without looking like you were ready to play hockey with all the gear they wear? Anyone remember METAL slides that got so freaking hot, you burned your butt sliding down and then you put sand on it because " it made you go faster and cooled off the slide?" AHHHH!!!

I know all the safety stuff, but we turned out ok...right?

Question :

What was OK for us growing up, but now is viewed as if you kicked a puppy?

(accidentally of course)

My mom would always tell me,make me miss you.

I cant count the times I had to be sewn up from wiping out on my bike or doing something else stupid.

Boy did I have fun as a kid,I was a lot tougher than any of these wimpy kids today.

I remember being able to be outside with a group of friends and not have our parents all freaked out about us going missing. I also remember having my mom smack the crap out of me when I acted up. I know so many groups of parents these days that refuse to hit their kids and all of their kids are little monsters due to the lack of "tough love"! haha

and I also miss GOOD cartoons...all the 'toons on nowadays are crap.

I remember riding my bike (Baby blue GT pro performer) all the way cross town just to hang out with my friends. We would just disappear all day saturday, tell mom Im going to Anthony's, I had to be back by DARK. haha
Mom and dad beat the crap outta me when I got a bad report card. I did most of the chores around the house.

Same bike I had.... AWESOME!

Back in the day, if you assed up you got beat by the neighbor, who then delivered you home for another beating by Mom and Dad.
"When those street lights come on your butt better be back in this house, Mister"
Ahhh, the memories.

Blowing stuff up.

Use to be tradition for seniors to blow up lockers at our school, till the 90s came along. [and they did almost hit a gas pipe the last time, 2 yrs before I was one] but was in all good fun. But it was no big deal to get some black powder and water proof wick and turn every container you can find into a bomb. No one was trying to kill anyone.

but find a HS kid doing that today and its a national news story.

Where was CNN where I blew the wheel barell 6ft in the air
[Every kid in school knew that story.]

I remember getting model car kits for Christmas, but not the paint to finish the job. So the next day when the stores were open, even with snow on the roads, I would ride my Schwinn 10 speed with 27 inch wheels to the hobby store. People would even wave to me , because I was the only fool on the road. Kids now a days have chauffeurs.
Both my parents are gone now, but I still have that 1969 Schwinn covered up in my basement. I bring it out and ride it maybe once a year.

Remember when every piece of a oscillating fan was metal? And the grate to keep you from putting your finger in it could easily allow a grown man's entire hand to go into the spinning METAL blade?

We didn't put our fingers in it because common sense says it would hurt like hell! Nowadays it looks like a maximum security lockup you couldn't stick a toothpick in!

....times change
