Cold air or exhaust next for cammed car?
Trying to decide on what I should do here. Right now my cammed car is running the stock intake with the box chopped off and I installed a filter and made my cold air own box. My exhaust is stock H pipe that necks down off the headers like crap, and I chopped the pipe at the rear end and welded up 3" bullets with a 2.5 to 3" reducer. Trying to decide if I should picked up a used roto fab or I have a shop that will build me a new H or X in 3" right off the headers into we're my bullets are dumped! I have no idea what would benefit my car the most!

Depends if you want a few more HP, or some kick a$$ sound

I say intake, just the fact that you made your own says it all. Not saying you didn’t do a good job but there could be a good chance that hot air is seeping through and into your engine thus reducing overall power. If the intake isn’t sealed off correctly then it’s hurting your hp more than you think. If it was my car that’s what I would do.

I did a good job on the box, but I am thinking the overall design off the way the filter and tub come together is hurting power. The car already sounds awesome, so this based on power. My tuner said I need to ditch both and get it retuned, but I need to do one or the other first.

I would do an intake with a scoop. You'll probably get at least a little power in the butt dyno if nothing else. Good chance you'll actually get some RWHP.
3" might sound a little better but you won't see any performance difference more than likely.

CAI with a new tune would be my vote. Would be cool to see the difference before and after same day same dyno.

I vote for an intake system as well. Feel free to call, PM or email me with questions.

This is what I have now, leaning towards the intake

I dunno man. I know what you've done so far, and roughly why you did it the way you did it. I can't imagine how re-doing things fits in your build model. You didn't save any money if you redo it! If your intake performs anywhere close to aftermarket intakes, then why on earth would you blow $300+ to gain a few HP over what you've got? If your IATs are acceptable, then stick with what you've got.
I hate to say it because I know you don't want to hear it, but the most logical way to go is a bigger cam. $300 towards valvetrain maybe, and get the rest at a comfortable pace?

I'd say intake, a good closed lid type. What you have works pretty good while moving but you need something that isn't going to heat up real bad when it is sitting still. I have dyno'd cars that I did headers on with stock catback vs, kooks 3" catback . Just not even hardly a measurable amount of difference. Especially for the money IMO

I feel bigger cam is a wast, pretty sure I can get a few mph with a fine tuning. I don't plan on a new intake, I am just going to pick up a used one. I mean this is getting 116 traps as is, and I see allot of bigger cam cars not doing any better! I would rather do 3.91s before a bigger cam! I would be happy if I started running 117s for a $200 dollar intake and get the most out of what I have you know what I mean. I plan on running 11s with this cam!
