Owners of 416 stroked LS3's...

I'm curious as to what it costs, what the gains were, etc... I am fixing to do a cam, LT's and CAI, with forced induction added down the road. One of the cams I might get needs reliefs for valve clearance, so I might go the stroker/forged route while I'm at it. Thanks in advance!

I've seen both, I think the 418 has been bored out a little(?) as well as stroked.

The 418 is not actually bored, it's honed. But both are displacements for the stroked LS3. I have a 418 motor built by Texas Speed, and installed by East Texas Muscle Cars. A lot like the OP, I had exhaust and CAI, and planned on going FI in the future, so I decided to start with the all-forged bottom end first. The gains were awesome, but I went with a lower compression ratio to make room for more boost. This brought my rwhp down quite a bit for now, but I'm still extremely happy with the setup.

We should start a club lol.

Too expensive for me though, I think I'll be happy with a LS3 conversion and a few other things.

Guys, My son Louie recently built a 416 LS3 at the S.A.M.'s in Houston. He just finished the 18 month course. The engine will run an F1R. Normally Aspirated the engine produced 612 HP with 9:1 CR. Bottom end is all forged (thanks MAST Motorsports) with ARP studs top and bottom. Heads were ported by him and the spring pockets were enlarged for solid roller springs. The car should be running on the dyno within the next 2 weeks with the Procharger. Should be interesting.

Nick

The engine upgrade was only $20.00, but that damn alternator ran me $7,180.00.

We do full cnc machined & properly blueprinted stroker LS3 / L99 shortblocks. The difference between a Texas Speed short-block & just about any other LS companies short-block is we use a cnc Block machine that costs by itself as much as other shops enitre machine collection! The advantages to using a cnc block machine is we can check & correct manufacturing issues in the blocks we machine. Virtually no other LS machine shop in the country can check & address incorrect block machining from GM.

Checkout some of our posts about the Texas Speed Machine Shop. I think you'll find we only use top of the line equipment to make sure we build the best short-block in the country!

got a 416 stroker in the shop last week; built by mast motors; attaching a TTI setup to the car in 2 weeks.

Is there an advantage to going this way as opposed to going with a 427 LSX?

I'm currently trying to decide if I want to forge the stock motor, or get a new block and put my maggie on that.
