Im running a modified setup using the stock exhaust, Doug Thorley 1 3/4" Tri Y headers, mid pipes "no cats", deleted the resonator "replaced with straight pipe", and replaced the stock suitcases with flowmaster super 10 race mufflers. Sounds great and shed quite a bit of weight

I put down 570 through the stock cat back with muffler delete. I put a 3" cat back on and will go back to the dyno soon.

I'd really like to know what the "pro's" think on how much HP a 2.5" cat back is good for? In planning on running either kooks 1 7/8 headers or LG headers. With either high flow cats or off road pipe. Was thinking I would just run a 3" exhaust from either kooks or LG but I'm really loving the sound of the magnaflow 16580 but it only comes in a 2.5" exhaust. I'm planning on making 750rwhp. Think this exhaust will be ok or will it be to restrictive?

I made a video of my exhaust but its so loud that my phone speaker cancels out alot of the sound to where its really distorted. Even with ear buds in its distorted.

Question: Does anyone have a video or a link to a thread that shows before and after dyno testing of a 2.5 > 3 inch exhaust? Because I keep reading people say that it doesn't make a difference. But I have yet to see any hard evidence. Its like someone one day decided to say this and it just caught on.

Having said that, I personally would not use any 2.5 inch exhaust on any application producing more than 500 whp. I don't think a dual 2.5 inch exhaust is enough at that point. You might be able to make X amount of power, but I think upping to a 3 inch at that point would provide worhtwhile gains. But still, I'd like to see some dyno results because word of mouth isn't enough for me...no offense anyone.

I went from a 3" MBRP (no bottleneck at the headers, custom full 3") back down to a 2.5" Solo Mach XL to eliminate the deafening drone. While no dyno was done, my 60-100 mph time remained the same at 3.7x seconds (logged with HPTuners scanner) and no boost increase. I'm someplace north of 600 whp at 9 psi.

That's very interesting with that much power as I thought you would have lost some. It could be that the DA was high when you recorded the 3" but low when you recorded the 2.5".
