427 Commemorative Edition Camaro SS......

I think an adequately send off of the current gen car into the sunset so to speak, beggs for the swan song of the 5th gen cars as offered from GM to be a 427 version of the CAMARO SS. This would be a grand finale for the average Camaro enthusiast on a lower cost model, affordable straight line factory hp, ala the C6 427 Corvette convertible.

It serves a different audience at a lower price point but is still exclusive enough not to impact corporate epa numbers and not take away anything from the Z/28's halo standing in the lineup. Use this to deplete any of the remaining LS7's that's not needed for factory warranty work or parts sales for another special model with some balls. 427 Commemorative Camaro. What say you?

I vote yes!!

I would like to see a price inbetween the 1LE and the ZL1, base 1SS with LS7 engine.

This and it's too late with only a few months left of 15 production.

It's bad enough that a lot of Z/28's are sitting on the lots forever. Offering a 427 engine in an SS for roughly $50k would crush the already painfully slow selling Z/28.

Yep thats true. I see an all black just sitting on the lot of the local chevy dealer. Im not into all black, but funny it hasn't sold. Then again, not many want a race car it seems. They're more worried about bells and whistles...

The Z/28 is out of most peoples price ranges. Also, it's a terrible daily driver, lol. Somebody just wanna go fast in a straight line, and I see no reason to not offer a LS7 optioned camaro if people want it. Something that is a bit cheaper than tha 75k dollar Z/28 track car.

Thats a great point. Lets look at the 5th gen lineup:

Ultimate track car: Z/28
Poor mans track car / good daily driver: 1LE
Ultimate straight line car: COPO
Good straight line / decent track toy / good daily driver: ZL1
Poor mans straight line car / better daily driver: SS
Decent performance / great economy and daily driver: V6 versions

Thats a pretty all encompassing lineup. Just about everyone can find something that works for them, and gives them a great base to build from. For example, I would like to see our car (1LE) have about 100 more HP, and that can be done without breaking the bank at the end of its daily driver responsibilities. If you want a better straight line car than the SS, but don't want / can't spend for a ZL1, mod the SS. I just don't think there is any room for that car. As others have said, it's too late in the model year to do something new, and you're really making a car that would cost much more than an SS, but still be slower than the ZL1.

All good points but I must remind you that COPO is not street legal and there is a group of enthusiast that prefer a high revving NA V8 to forced induction.

Just thinking about that segment of buyers who may feel left out who may want a lighter weight hp model like the SEMA 427 concept car from years back. Certification is already paid for and this could keep interest up leading to the 6th gen production rollout.

Something to put in the fight against the dodge boy's scat pack 392 equipped cars in the Camaro stable.

I see your point, but think a modified SS could do the job for a lot less money. Just noticed you are from Savannah. Brunswick here, and we have a condo in Tybee. We love that area.

Cool, you need to get together with us from the Savannah/Low Country group on the first Sunday of the month if you have the time.
