The PDIM adds USB port and Bluetooth for streaming audio.

If you want Bluetooth for hands free phone then you need an Bluetooth enabled Onstar module.

No streaming is sufficient. Thank you. If I did want the OnStar module for Bluetooth calls I'd need To continue OnStar correct? Also is that easy upgrade or no?

The bluetooth works regardless of your Onstar subscription. In order to use the Onstar phone with minutes you would need to continue anOnstar subscription.

SummoneR is correct. You need the OnStar module to make bluetooth calls with your cell phone, but you don't need the OnStar subscription unless you want to use their hands-free minutes to make your calls.

It's a very easy upgrade. The OnStar module is located behind the passenger-side dash, just above the glove box. All you have to do is remove the glove box to gain access to it. Even if you don't currently have a module, the wiring harness is already there, and you just buy the part and plug it in.

I don't know which, if any, of the GM parts retailers have it, but you'll often find them for sale on eBay. There is one thing you should know about the modules. Both the 2010 and 2011 modules will work in your car, but only the 2011 module will allow you to access the phone book you have stored in your cell phone through the radio head. I don't know if that's important to you or not. You can still store numbers to be recalled through voice commands with either module.

Good luck.

And yes, it is called the OnStar module.

Are there sitll 2 different PDIMs? 1 for C & C and 1 for normal cars? If so would I need to spend the $$ for the C & C version?

Yes, one is for cars that have the system already installed; you just buy the module. The other is the kit which includes the module and cable to add the system. Verify this but I believe this is how it works.
