Thumbs up Texas Motor Speedway Laps for Charity May 8th, 2010

Hey guys i am wanting to set up a TMS Laps for Charity event, I am gonna reserve a spot as DFW- Camaro Owners and i welcome any Lonestar Camaro members to participate with us as well, i will be calling to set it up for our group on monday so we will be worked in between 5-7pm, if they are full we will do the general public slot time and i will try to get all of us lined up in a line so we all can go at the same time.

-UnknownWarrior

Track Time set up: i have set up our track time and they gave us 6:45 and they would like us to all be there by 6:15 i figure we could all go to dinner then head out to the track and do our laps. They will be calling me at the end of April to get the final number of people who are goin i told them to put us down for 30 cars for now

You're the driver when Texas Motor Speedway opens the Speedway to the public for the first time this year. Experience the thrill of driving your car around the 1.5-mile super speedway all to benefit the Texas Chapter of Speedway Children's Charities.

Polish up your special vehicle and come on out to "The Great American Speedway!®" on Saturday, May 8, 2010 for Laps for Charity I. Take three laps on the 1.5 mile Super Speedway behind a pace vehicle for just a $30 donation and have your picture taken in Victory Lane for an additional $10. Once again our fan favorite VIP Laps Experience will be offered for $250. Laps will be conducted for Car Clubs (by reservation) from 5-7 p.m. and for the General Public from 7-10 p.m. No reservation is needed for the General public time.

VIP Laps Experience for $250 donation per car Includes:
(1) 5 Laps Session during a special reserved time slot
(1) Three-Course Dinner for two at the Starlight Dinning Room in The Speedway Club (May 8, 2010)
(1) Photo in Victory Lane with your Car
(2) Laps for Charity event T-shirt

Drivers must be 18 years of age or older. All occupants in a car including the driver must wear a safety belt. Passengers must be 6 years of age or older. Motorcyclists must wear a helmet and must stay on the apron of the track. No passing. Single file only. Pace Car will set the speed limit.

I won't be doing the $250 deal. I'll just do the $30 and a picture. The event has gotten very boring over the years thanks to safety regs but I still go to support the charity.

I remember when it first started, you have 1 pace car taking you around and you could get up to 150mph easily on the straights. Not anymore though.

When we ran this last fall, the group slots were full, but there wasn't any trouble running as a group. We all ate dinner together before heading to the track in a caravan. The event staff directed us all into a staging lane together so that we weren't separated. We had to wait in line a while, but by the time it was our turn, it was dark so we ran under the lights Several of us were able to go above 100.

I should also add that should you want to go for another 3 laps, you may do so for an additional $30
