How strong is the ZL1 rear?

Tried searching but couldnt really find anything. How strong is the ZL1 rear diff/axles? As is would a high hp th400 combo work with one?

Same stuff they use in the CTSV if I'm not mistaken. And those things take 1100rwhp and torque at 4400lbs.

Hmmm, if the axles are the same we had John Hennessey's CTS-V axles here last year. he tore up the one that was made from tube ? ill order a set and do some cuting on them

I was thinking about doing the center section and DSS axles..

As far as I know, DSS does not make any axles that are compatible with the ZL1 rear end..........yet. You'll have to use the stock ZL1 axles. Just do that ZL1 rear drivetrain upgrade kit from GM.

Just slap in a DSS 9 INCH KIT, and be done with it!!

I am all about putting great parts in my car but I am not ready to drop 6-7k in a rear end setup.

When you need a rear, just remember what we've told ya.... DDS 9' is one of the best rears you can go with... And the customer service is second to none...

Its no fun having drive line problems. You can pick up the driveshaft shop Nine Inch kid for less than that, plus you will have more gear options.

I was wondering about a setup for my camaro when I SC this spring. If all goes well, my plan is to get it to 700hp. Was planning on getting new axles and driveshaft but not sure if I needed a complete rear diff. Just wanted a bit more hp for a street car...was seriously looking at the new bolt on ZL1 rear that GM came out with for the SS....
