PF48 vs. PF48E Oil Filter?

Hi guys,

I called O'Riley's today to check if they have the AC Delco pf48 oil filter. No pf48, now it's pf48e according to them. However, the other part numbers on the filter don't match either. I'm afraid the thread size might be different too. Anyone do an oil change lately? Is the parts guy full of crap or no more pf48?

PF48 was discontinued, replaced by pf48e. Try calling round to Walmart, they might still have some.

Would you rather a plastic oil filter on the track while enjoying your go-cart?

Go GM. The GM filters meet their specification and are run on all the test engines when validating for production. Anything els is a crap shoot.

Below is a re-post from a previous oil filter thread.

I use a Napa Platinum 47060, its basically a WIX filter with Napa's name on it. Why do I use this filter over the OE filters? Its because there's a magnet in the center bore to collect ferrous particulates and the media is composed of a steel reinforced synthetic one.

Instead of me rehashing my "theory of all things filters", be sure to check out the link below and look for the posts from "JFT69Z" (the ones with the pictures).

Thanks everyone. I'll be out of warranty in a yr. I get that GM tests its products, but the impact of the breakdown of the plastic core is felt over time, chances are well after your warranty ends. Just my opinion, but i'm choosing to avoid the ac delco plastic crap as long as the real stuff is still available.
