Which comes out to: $33,390

Obviously taxes and DMV fee are variable and the "Dealership Fee". Still seems to be a mysterious ~$1,500 lurking around!

how do you figure taxes are only a grand?

Well, as I have said before. If you want it buy it. If you don't then stay away from it. Most people on here want the car and don't require anyone to talk them into buying it.
Questions you should ask YOURSELF........
1.Why do I want this car?
2. What do I want it for?
3. Am I more worried about what frriends and other people think about MY car?
4. Is a 426HP gass guzzler really what I want?
5. If i don't get this car how will I feel about missing out on a car I really think I like?

So with that said, make your own decision.

Well, if you want a fast car, the SS is it.

guys are running 12's with a few mods, and 11's with N2O.

Your RX8 doesnt get much attention anymore, does it? The SS will have people drooling at your car. Girls will ask for rides

V6 mods are surely to come out soon, if not already in the works. Also take into account gas prices and insurance, adding to your monthly costs. I'm getting a V6 due to another truck payment already in process. And I need it for winter. Now if I were in warmer climate, there wouldn't be an issue..

I looked at the Challenger and it was the best car for me, I didnt have to be convinced

If you love the car you dont need others to talk you into or out of buying.

DaAznKnight, here is how I would answer SicSix6 Questions.

For exactly the same reason I wanted one in 1968.

If I have to explaine it, you wont understand it.

If you are going to worry about what other people think, then you are buying it for the wrong reasons.

If you cannot afford the gas, then you cannot afford the car.

Exactly the same way I felt when I missed out in 1968.

Now I wills say this, if you are going to buy this car from your head, you just might be on the wrong track. If you are going to buy a car from your head, then get a station wagon.

You have to buy this car from your heart.

So with that said, make your own decision.
1. It's complicated. A combination of a love for art, speed, beauty, and heritage.
2. Drive. Fast.
3. No. Couldn't give a damn. As you can imagine, I am one of the only rotary car owners at the local car clubs. To hold that status needs a thick skin. :p
4. The Camaro gets better gas mileage than what I get now. I get 11-13mpg city, and 19mpg highway (if I'm real lucky. Otherwise, I can get 16mpg highway). That's frickin Aston Martin DB9 territory, without the V12 power.
5. I'd be rather sad. The MSRP of the Camaro won't change for a while, but the RX-8 will continue to depreciate.

I know the final decision is mine. But what I'm looking for in this thread is really a rundown by owners on what they like or dislike about their cars. The salesman will always tell me how great the Camaro is, and play on my emotional love for this car. Owners who blew $30,000+ on their car won't take any problems too kindly.

The RX-8 gets plenty of attention at the race track. Especially when I blow away cars with two to three times the horsepower just by having the balls to take corners faster. :p

I don't know about girls asking for rides. I really don't buy performance vehicles to impress women.

I like keeping my fun with my car personal. I might chat with other people about it, but in terms of giving other people rides, or worse, letting them drive, I don't do that often.

Yeah, I understand the purchase of a performance car is really a matter that starts in the heart. That's how it is for the Camaro.

But let's face it. If the car turns out to be a pig riddled with problems, your love will quickly turn to suffering. When I get this car, it'll be a daily driver, grocery getter, and track toy. All at the same time. I've never paid much attention to GM's reliability when given such an enormous task, so I do need to consider these things.

But judging from the way the thread is going, I'm guessing the car's really bulletproof. That or no one has been willing to drive their cars yet. :p

You guys might see a new 1SS soon.

Lucky you! When I was in college, me and the boys would be lucky to scape together enough cash for beer and pizza.

Dude, if you were able to take out on an RX-8 at SOME point in your life (assuming it wasn't used), then go for the 1SS like I am. You can upgrade to all the shit the 2SS has without adding to the amount of money you'll have to finance.

Buy one. I seriously had no intention of buying a car 4 weeks ago. It was the last thing on my mind. Then I went and test drove one the rest is history. I love it. If you can afford it, but one. It's the coolest car out there.
