Can you clarify these numbers-they don't make sense if you're saying 450 rwhp stock then all those mods only gained 17.

I'm pretty sure that's his point. I've read many places that the LT1 with it's VVT didn't leave a lot of power on the table like previous LS engines did.

Only play if you can afford to pay.

Call and talk to Ted. He is one of the best, if not THE best, tuner in the country. He does remote tunes as well as all kinds of builds at his shop in Waterbury, Conn. And he is one hell of a nice guy that will get you quickly up to speed on the current tuning business.
Ted's doing the Heardbeat, ARH ceramic coated long-tubes, and tuning my car for starters. I wouldn't even consider anyone else unless I was going to pay for Callaway or LPE. I'd really think long and hard about this before you choose your mods and also any shop that's not local. What you save up front could end up costing you exponentially more down the road.

I'm guessing he had the equipment installed before the 450 run, then gained another 17 just from tuning.

Janetty is a good option but he isn't the only one. I'm lucky enough to be 30 minutes from ADM Performance. People drive from all over to have him work on their cars. I would talk to both of them and go with your gut feeling from there.

BTW: ADM tuned my car when it only had 3,500 miles on it. No issues at all.

Which brings up a question I've been wondering about...

I had my mods and tuning done at 1500 miles. It's now been 2 years and another 8500 miles. Does the tune ever need a "tune-up"? Mine seems to run just fine which is probably the best tell but I'm wondering if the additional miles loosening up the engine changes anything with the tune.

I can tell you that my 460 crankshaft hp 16 SS dyno'd at around 390 wheel hp. That would mean the mods gave him about 60 whp and a tune 17 more whp.
