There are a few threads here that do a nice job of telling you how to tackle this yourself. Here are a couple things I learned:
  • Use high-heat paint on the engine cover itself - I read it wasn't necessary but my first attempt started to bubble near the oil fill.
  • If you use a clear coat, make sure it's compatible with the base coat (I didn't and it curled up all my paint - had to start all over
  • If you have patience and experience with primer/sanding, the center of the engine cover would come out better if you sand them smooth. I left mine with original texture and went heavy on the clear coat because I'm lazy, but smooth admittedly would look better.
  • When your stuff is drying in the basement, don't let your fiance's cat down there - or at least keep it out of his reach.

Don't mean to nit-pic 'cause it all looks great but I'd consider removing that black bowtie from the passenger strut tower; just looks a tad out of place IMHO.

Been debating on doing something similar. Mines aqua with white not sure yet though

Your turned out pretty good. What a paint did you use?
