I am confused. The following is from the MobilOil website
http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/..._75W-90LS.aspx

Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lube LS 75W-90 contains special friction modifiers designed for limited slip-type differentials. In most applications, the addition of special LS (limited slip) additives is not required. For axles requiring the highest level of limited-slip performance, OEM specific LS additives can be added to this fluid.

they make it with and without the additive. Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lube LS 75W-90 has it. The LS in the name stands for Limited Slip.

I believe the LS 75w90 is a GL5 spec Lubricant which still needs the LS additive added to it.

I could be wrong as I am going from memory because I finally got tired of the mobil 1 confusion and used redline since it is a pure synthetic.

Cheers

Hmmm, looking at the Mobile site, it appears they ONLY make LS fluid now. Be sure to read the bottle when you head out to Napa. As long as it says LS you're fine. No need for additional additive.

One other question about draining the old fluid. Is it one drain plug at the bottom and a fill plug at the top? My guess would be to take off the top one first then the bottom one and let it drain all out. Is this correct? Thanks,

Both plugs are on the drivers side facing the rear wheel. Drain plug is more toward the rear of the car on the bottom and the fill is more toward the front of the car on the top. Takes a 3/8 ratchet to undo them.

I just undid the bottom and let it drain. Replaced. Then undid the top.

what lube did you use?

i just changed mine... went with the Mobil1 stuff. it DOES have friction additives in it specifically for limited-slip differentials. pretty good price too. the Mobil1 was about $25 with tax for 2 quarts and the stealership wanted $90 with tax for 2 quarts of the GM lube and 4 oz of friction modifier.

not to mention the fact i didn't have to mix together exactly 2.5 ounces from the friction modifier into the gear lube, cuz Mobil1 did that already
