I'm waiting for warmer weather to do my door panels in black. I plan to do all the silver trim inside the car in gloss black. Console, steering wheel, speedo bezel, and radio trim when I get a new HU with nav.

So, if i have this right,
To keep the ABL in your door with the inside paint method, you have to mask off a thin line to keep a spot clear. If your going to do the dash panels also, can you just mask off a thin line there also and not have to futz around with the weather stripping to push the pieces out? |

Yes, you would have to mask the beveled portion along the top of the dash trim.

Great DIY. It took me awhile. I got sick in the middle of the project. My dash pieces came out like shit so I had to paint the outside of it. The door panels came out great from painting the inside. It wasn't little foggy but can't even tell with the paint on. Here's a pic of the finish product. The smears are the oils from my hand. I haven't cleaned it yet.

Awesome info! Can't wait to try this. Any long term defects? Things that cropped up after if was installed for a while?

Your dealer should be able to sell you a small rattle can of the stuff. I bought one of IOM when I had my 2010, and I'm pretty sure that's a 3-stage paint too. But that was like 2 years ago give or take.
