Your dealer cannot refuse warranty work. If they do, they are in breach of implied warranty. It is your car. You do not have to get any recall work performed if you do not wish to. Although, liability will shift to you if anything happens during said recall. Like if your knee shut off the car, you ran off the road and killed someone. I had mine in for an oil change two years ago and signed the paper saying I refuse the recall. GM still sends me emails and mailings at least once a month. Yet, I have an airbag recall I already took care of on my Toyota when my wife hit a deer two years ago and have only been notified once about it. Guess a key is more important than an airbag.

I had a local dealership refuse to work on my car when I wanted the top replaced. I called Chevy and opened a case and they said the dealership could refuse to work on any car they wanted to. There was nothing they could (or would) do about it.

I went to a different dealership and they took care of it.

If a dealership refuses to perform warranty work, they are in breach of implied warranty and can be taken to court over it. If a dealership farms out GM warranty work, they are also in breach of warranty since the work was not performed by a GM certified employee. I/E top replacement. Trust me on this one. I was one of the first to get a buyback on my 2012 and have been fighting the battle for all of you for 5 years. Many many people have now been satisfied with their outcome from the info I provided them.

My 2011 is almost paid off and I still love it so I will pass on a 6th gen. I decided that I would rather upgrade my DD Silverado so I got a great deal on a leftover 2015 High Country Crew Cab in November. It's a fantastic truck with almost every option on it. Next year we will get my wife a new DD and turn the Camaro into a garage queen. The new vehicle will be either four or all wheel drive to handle the winters here and I am sure it will cost me less than a new V6 convertible.

+1. Not worth it to me either, I can use the $10,000 USD for lots of other things, like eating out whenever, wherever, and whatever we want for a lot of years. Or about five week-long cruises for wife & me. Oh and btw I still have a nice ding-free, nearly new 2011 SS/RS vert with less than 10k on the clock, not to mention the thousands saved on reg fees (tax) and insurance over the years. The next five will be even better with minimal depreciation. So if you want a new car, go for it and keep our economy strong! Me, I'll pass. :-)

Sorry, Mary B. - love the 5th gen, but you & your Oshawa team did too good a job. The planned obsolescence engineered into my car is its only failure!
