Best wheel size for the camaro
I've read A LOT of posts on here about wheel/tire size and can't really find the answer I'm looking for. I know it obviously depends on what you're doing with the car which size is best, but I'm wanting to know how much difference the diameter makes in overall performance. For all around best handling, riding, etc, which size is "best"? Or is there not that big of a difference?
Mine came with 19s. I want new wheels and tires and don't know if I should stick with the 19s for some reason and their limited tire availability or switch to 20s? Or would 18s be better for some reason? Mine is just a daily driver that I drive fairly aggressively most of the time. Especially for a v6!!! LOL!!! Is there any benefit to the 20s except tire/wheel choices? Are there any negatives for the 20s over 19 or 18? Sorry if this sounds stupid. I'm just not sure myself and figure you guys are the best to ask!!! Thanks for your advise!!! Tim |

Oh...and just cruising around town or on a highway, I absolutely LOVE the way it drives now with the stock 19" rims and P Zeros!!! LOL!!! So from what I have read from you guys in other posts, I should be happy with about ANYTHING else compared to those! LOL!!!
Mine is a 1LT if that makes a difference. In WHEEL SIZE not performance!!! LOL |

I didn't know mine were different. You mean the summer only tires are the junk ones? Mine are the all-season I know but need replaced, When I got the car they had maybe 65% of their thread left. They were NOT good in the snow like they were, and even now, if someone spits on the road in front of me and I give it any gas, it spins! LOL
And it's REAL fun when there is a very light dew still on the road that hasn't evaporated yet and you punch it at 60 mph and the car breaks loose and goes sideways for a brief couple of seconds!!! Sure wakes you up and it may be awhile before you "un-pucker" if you know what I mean!!! LOL!!! |

Yes I agree with that. I wouldn't want anything larger. Like I said, I'm not sure I want the 20s except that there are so many wheel and tire options with that size. A lot of 18s also. Just wasn't sure if one is better than the other at all

If you're gonna change. 18 or 20. Mainly because of the options you have on tires.

I am planning on putting winter tires on the stock 19s and getting a new set of wheels/tires for the summer. Just want to know if I'm compromising or gaining anything with 18s or 20s? Or does it make no noticeable difference at all?

Depends on what you're doing. 18"s will be lighter so right there that's less unsprung weight and that's always good.
