2011 GTO vs 2009 Challenger RT
We were getting on the freeway from a surface street, him #3 lane, me #2. I start pulling out and so does he. I don't realize that he's running for the one entrance lane until mostly thru the turn. We're running for the freeway, he floors it, I floor it and it's a race for the one entrance ramp (yes we were even). My RT took him totally and he never made another move. Sat behind me the whole way. Then later that afternoon, what appeared to be the same GTO (via LIC plate) pulled up beside me on a surface street and wanted to race! I had my 7 yr old son so no way. But the guy was adamant - no way. What a douche. I turned off on my street. This is the first couple times GTOs have tried and paid. What the hell is up with GTOs? They should know their place.

No street racing stories.
And it was most likely a poor running 2004 GTO to get beat by a Challenger R/T. |

Actually considering an R/T is a low/mid 13 second car with a decent driver it should prettywell bitchslap an 04 GTO in good running condition and give an 04-05 GTO a run for it's money (04s seem to be low 14 second cars and most 04-05s seen to run low/mid 13s). |

A Challenger R/T running low 13s is like a stock Camaro SS running mid 12s (it can happen but the God's have to be helping). I've personally watched and raced too many Challenger R/Ts to call them low 13 sec cars. I also owned a 05 and 06 GTO. Those cars would easily beat a Challenger R/T (stock vs stock). The only car a stock Challenger R/T could beat (as described in the post) would be a stock 04 GTO. And if you go to LS1GTO.com you'll find plenty of bone stock 04 GTOs that have run low 13s. Their also a nice list of stock LS2s (05/06s), that have run high 12s. |
