NEC5 Sponsors a Race Car!

UPDATE - for those of you new to this thread, you'll see posts from years past, as well as the most recent car in the latest posts - enjoy reading the history and the updates

"How can this be" you ask? "We don't have any money" you say? "What race car can we possibly afford to put our logo on" you ponder (IDK, does Mr.600 have an NEC5 sticker on his car)?

[EDIT - to anyone new to this thread, this year's car is featured on page 2]

Wonder no more my friends! We are indeed sponsoring a race car! My fellow Camaro owners, I present to you

This is my 5 year old's entry car for her Daisy Scouts Powder Puff (Pinewood) Derby car. She picked the shape of the car (I did include a rough Camaro outline which I tried to pursued her into, but it was up to her), and as we were thinking about how to paint it (she said she wanted white with four red stripes), I suggested a sponsor.

I told her that all good race cars how sponsor logos on them, like Lightning McQueen had Rust-Eze. So I asked her if I could put the New England Camaro 5 logo on it. Well, her eyes light up in a way that only a little girl's eyes could do and she shook her head a definite "YES!"

So I cut out a nice stencil of our logo and had her paint it on the back. I even cut out the Daisy logo for her to paint on the front.

Well, I hope you like it, and get a good chuckle. The race is on Sunday. We'll see how it goes.

They do indeed weight them. The car cannot weigh more than 5oz. The last time I weighed it before painting, it was 4.84oz - that is with plenty of weight added to it. My scale is not calibrated, so I didn't want to risk more weight.

This should be good for the FB page, no?

It was a damn good race. My daughter's car took first out of all the troops in town (I would have to say there were 20-25 cars in her division). Needless to say, I was very pleased, and my daughter was extremely excited. I told her that now she has as car, and a first place ribbon, to show when we go to car shows in the Spring.
