There are small discs on the cat back pipes that keep the band clamps in place. One of them (drivers side if I remember right) needs to be removed with a chisel or Dremel. This was on a 2011 SS. Probably still the same. Look at the location of the dip stick tube before you remove it, and it will make it much easier to get it back in place. When I did mine, I measured the distance at center of the fender wells to the floor and it was 42". If you have a helper, I don't see how you could break a spark plug. Just my .02 cents.

Like as already mentioned, remove the spark plugs (consider going ahead and replacing them depending on mileage etc,.) and what I didn't see mentioned is to use Anti-Seize on your bolts during reinstallation and for the O2 threads and wideband bung if you have one.
