Then there would be the same theory that putting the Cadillac LSA motor in a Chevy would bring the price of the Cadillac down.
We are to the point were a great engine is a great engine. Now if they did put the LS9 in the Camaro, I could see them having it be simply 600 HP to keep the ZR1 top dog for the ulitmate HP number. But even at equivalent HP there would be no doubt that the 500 pound lighter ZR1 would still be king of the Chevy showroom.

The Camaro will never really be a threat to the ZR1 even if they had the exact same horsepower. I don't think people realize just how badass the ZR1 really is. It's the total package.

so for all of you who worry about the power of a z/28 maybe chevy could team up with mercruiser they have a 1025 hp that runs on pump gas with a warranty and is made to run at 5000 rpms for long extended periods of time only drawback is that it is well over a 100 grand motor

1) It is a Chevy engine to begin with so putting it in a Chevy Camaro does not devalue the engine. 2) The investment in the engine has already been made. 3) The best way to increase the return on that investment is to sell more units. So have three models, the Corvette, CTS and the Camaro vs just the Corvette and Cadillac. I'll bet the Z28 outsells both of the others combined. 4) Ford already has an intercooled supercharged version of the mustang, which proves there is a market for such an animal. 5) Keep up with the competition. See #4 above. |

The Camaro is way heavier and has the coefficent drag of a house. Id imagine that the front end starts to deform pretty bad at about 160ish. |

OK, as long as the Z/28 is Re-Offered, and it has an RPO code (shhhhh) available to drop the body kit, I would accept "ANY" LS-X engine for it.
But, the LSA makes PERFECT sense. Doesn't it? I think so...... "Sooooooooo.............K, Bye!!!" :-)

Well i also believe an LS9 Camaro wouldnt cut into the ZR1 sales but for different reasons, and its the same reason the Yenkos and COPOs didnt cut into the Corvette sales in the 60s. Corvettes and Camaros are way different cars that draw in way different crowds, Camaro people will always look for and buy Camaros and Corvette people will always look for and buy Corvettes, its not a matter of price for these people its just the model of car they're looking for.
That aside im not sure GM would drop the LS9 in the Z/28, i would imagine they would drop the LS7 in it because that's what they advertised at SEMA and thats the next highest tier in the Corvette (Coupe/LS3 - Z06/LS7 - ZR1/LS9) Besides speculation i would preffer the LS7, i just preffer N/A engines (as opposed to the LSA or LS9) plus the SEMA Camaro had 586hp from its LS7 so they can easily get the power needed, also im just really against the LSA because i believe the Z/28 should be a truley unique model of car and with the LSA it would just be a re-badged CTS-V with weight savings (arguements pending right? LOL) |
