Driving the 1LE across country & have questions?

So Thursday im going to be driving my 2015 1LE from Dallas Texas to Tampa Bay Florida, around 1200 miles. The car only has 4200 miles on it and the oil is at round 55%.

Does anyone have any experience or pointers for long distance driving in this thing?

Keep some money set aside for tickets.

Other than that, roll along and enjoy the ride. Triple digits in 6th is so much fun and so easy.

55% on oil will last you another 3k miles or so I'm betting.

I would change the oil before I left since it is the first change, but if not I am sure you will be ok. As others have said, enjoy the ride.

Change the oil ,get a good radar detector, and watch out where you drive and park because the tires are going to pick up every nail, screw, and sharp object you get near.

I just did my first oil change on Saturday at the dealership. The oil change kid must have opened the door onto the lift arm and too off about 3 inches of paint along the bottom of the door. Of course he "forgot" to mention this to anyone. When I got home I washed her and as I was drying the door I ran the cloth along the bottom of the door and had a cardiac. I was at the dealership this-morning and she's going in next Tuesday for painting... I don't care if you're driving a 1982 chevette I respect other peoples property... why is this such a difficult concept? Sooo... look your car over thoroughly before leaving ANYWHERE after service!!! Luckily I have an outstanding dealership and they're taking care of me.

P.S. I have found the WAZE App to be extremely useful.

Driving the 1LE across country & have questions?

If the dealership won't change for your Freebee because the % is too high. Pay for it yourself but do not reset the oil life. When you get low after the trip get your free one.

Yes, I did a similar drive a few months ago. My best advice for paint protection is painters tape (use the good stuff) across the entire front bumper, partial hood, mirrors and behind the wheels. I did just that and my car(new 1LE) was flawless. Do not follow semi's closely or any large trucks. Drive extra slow when driving over loose gravel after you've been driving for long periods, the tires pick up everything and will sling debris if you aren't careful. Check on the painters tape every time you stop. You do not want extra tape flapping against the body panel at highway speeds. I learned that mistake years ago on my 2000 SS. Apart from that, just use common sense. You and your car should arrive nick and or scratch free. Save travels, it was a cool trip for me!

P.S. Once i arrived home, I had the bumper, mirrors, headlights, rocker panels, gills, door handles and the area behind the rear tires protected with XPEL. I highly suggest you protect the areas you think are important to you as soon as you can.
